Dallas County Urbanites 4-H Club Agricultural Identification team takes top senior spot at the Heart of Texas Fair in Waco.

What exactly is a Devil’s Cigar Fungus…and where are blueberries grown in Texas? Ask any member of the Urbanites Agricultural Identification team and they will be happy to tell you all about the wide variety of agricultural products found in Texas. This broad based competition requires the contestants to not only properly identify products but also tests their knowledge about the products economic impact to the state, where and when items are produced, nutritional value, cooking methods and more.

Urbanite members C. Shank, L. Ontiveros, CJ Wicks, M. Apodaca and Cielo O. traveled to Waco on October 6th, 2013 and took top honors the Heart of Texas Fair Agricultural Identification Contest. CJ Wicks also placed 8th senior individual and C. Shank 4th senior individual overall.

Way to go team!
