Project Butterfly WINGS

WINGS, Winning Investigative Network for Great Science, is a partnership between 4-H youth and professional scientists. Participating youth are “citizen scientists” who collect data on butterflies to help professional scientists determine:

The presence or absence of specific butterfly species

The abundance of butterfly species by state and county throughout the country

The information helps butterfly scientists better understand and conserve butterfly populations.

Morgan Farnell

1. June 4, 2011 – Market Poultry Workshop – College Station, TX – Pearce Pavilion

o This workshop provides an excellent opportunity for CEAs, agri-science instructors, leaders, parents and youth to “hear the experts” and work alongside Texas’ major poultry judges. Youth interested in a career in poultry science should make a special effort to attend the workshop. Departmental personnel will be available to counsel potential students. Educational activities include in-depth discussion on brooding, management, sanitation and feeding programs and selection and processing methods for broilers, turkeys and roasters. Discussion on selection procedures and bird quality characteristics will be followed by “hands on” practice in early culling and selecting and “putting together” show pens.
